The purpose of the study was to study the relationships between the prevalence of epilepsy in dogs and factors such as gender and age of the dog at the first attack. Clinical data obtained from veterinary clinics in Odessa were examined. It has been shown that the first manifestation of epilepsy is most often registered in dogs aged 2 to 6 years. A study of the relationship between the gender of dogs and the frequency of epilepsy showed epilepsy is registered more often in male dogs than in female dogs. Analysis of the literature data showed that further research is needed in the field of differential diagnosis of epilepsies in order to differentiate epilepsies from other neurological diseases. It is also necessary to study the role of sex steroids in the development of epilepsy.
