Retraction Policy for Published Articles

The retraction of a published article is a mechanism for correcting the published record and informing readers that the publication contains deficiencies or errors. Retraction may be warranted in cases involving violations of legal, publishing, or ethical standards.

The editorial board adheres to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for corrections and retractions and is guided by the principles of academic integrity and responsibility to its readers.

Grounds for retraction:

  • Detection of plagiarism in the article;
  • Duplicate publication of the article in different journals;
  • Identification of errors (e.g., misinterpretation of results) that compromise the scientific value of the publication;
  • Detection of data falsification or fabrication in the article;
  • Incorrect authorship attribution;
  • Presence of a conflict of interest or other violations of publication ethics;
  • Republishing the article without the author's consent;
  • The article did not undergo the peer-review process.

Retraction of an article may be initiated:

  • By an official written request from the author(s) of the article;
  • By an official written request from the editorial board of another journal;
  • By a written request from third parties (e.g., participants in a conflict of interest), provided there is evidence of ethical misconduct by the author(s);
  • By the editorial board upon detection of ethical violations or errors in the article.

Retraction procedure:

  1. Upon receiving a request from the author or another party, the editorial board appoints a committee to verify the information.
  2. If a decision is made to retract the article, the reason and date of retraction are recorded in the committee’s meeting minutes.
  3. Information about the retracted article is submitted to scientific databases and libraries where the journal is indexed.
  4. After the decision to retract, the article and its metadata remain on the journal’s website. A “Retracted” mark and the retraction date are added to the electronic version. The issue’s table of contents is also updated to indicate the retraction.
  5. The editorial board reserves the right to make decisions regarding future cooperation with the author(s) of the retracted article.
